Equine Assisted Family Therapy

Partnering with the staff at Stable Place equine assisted therapeutic facility, I teach a 3-credit graduate level course at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Equine Assisted Family Therapy. Within this hybrid class, NSU Family Therapy students learn about equine assisted therapy approaches through classroom instruction as well as experiential training with horses to complement and enrich the academic coursework. Partnering with horses allows the students to explore and develop the particular gifts they bring to the therapeutic relationship, honing their clinical skills and enriching their ability to connect with their clients.

Based on the model developed in collaboration with NSU, we periodically offer clinical training (including CEUs) for mental health professionals in the community. Please contact me or visit the Stable Place website for announcements about these trainings.
